Ever since Barbie ditched Ken and sent him into his exploratory “metro" phase, we've totally lost interest in those two plastic whores. Now it's all about Bleeding Edge Inc.'s BeGoths, an awesomely gloomy line of fashion dolls best played with at midnight by a moonlit stream in the woods while listening to The Cure's Disintegration. Creator Steve Varner cut his teeth designing, amongst other things, the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures, but his son coaxed him into doing the line of goth gals. Three years later, he's into his fifth successful series of the dolls, and the first BeGoths comic book was introduced at the San Diego Comic Con this past July.
